Interaction/discussion on ‘Qualities of a good teacher and a good student’

Report of interaction/discussion on ‘Qualities of a good teacher and a good student’ held in M. A final (English)classroom by Dr. Geeta Goyal. Compiled – By Rashmi, Renuka and pramjeet, students of M. A ( final) English.

On the eve of Teacher’s Day, a classroom discussion was held (on 4th sept. 2019)in M. A . English, final year on the topic “Qualities of good teacher & a good student”. All the students of M. A ( F) (around 25), were a part of the elucidative programme. The event started with Dr. Geeta Goyal asking the students about their opinions on the qualities of a good teacher & a good student. She acquainted them with the objectives and goals of the workshop. Each and every student equally participated in this small workshop. The environment of the discussion was pleasant. Students presented their opinions on the topic seriously and tried to explain their views clearly to the teacher and their fellow classmates. The following points came out after students’ responses, followed by a healthy discussion:
A good teacher should be disciplined and punctual in the class. He/she should have a pleasing, inspiring and a motivating personality. He/she should have the capability to make the topic interesting to the students. He should be kind, a good friend, supportive and understanding and so on.
A good student should be laborious, disciplined, attentive, sharp-minded and regular in classroom. He/she should be focused towards studies. A good student should have good relations with his teacher. He/she should be a careful listener and a good learner. He should be a good communicator, hard working, sincere and passionate individual. A student should be respectful towards his or her teachers. The event ended with Dr. Geeta Goyal sharing her personal experience as a teacher with her students. The experience was an overwhelming one..
