One Day Legal Awareness Campaign organised by Legal Literacy Cell

On 14th March,2018, Legal Literacy Cell of the college organized a One Day Awareness Campaign on ‘Legal Awareness among Students Need of the Hour’. In this campaign, Sh. Daanish Gupta, CJM-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kaithal, enlightened the students with great knowledge, guidance and awareness. He stated that in view of increasing crimes against women and violation of human rights, knowledge of law would help the needy get their grievances redressed without the assistance of others. In his address, he informed students about different schemes and services, including free legal help of advocates in courts and free legal awareness. He also told the students about the working of Lok Adalats and Samjhota Sadan to settle cases by the way of compromise. Anyone can approach district courts to take free legal help. Principal, Dr. O.P Garg welcomed the speaker and said that understanding of the legal literacy and legal awareness is the need of the hour to deal with the uncertain problems existing and rising in the society. The absence of the legal awareness among youngsters is mainly responsible for the deception, exploitation and deprivation of rights and benefits. The miserable condition in which the people find themselves can be alleviated to some extent by creating legal literate and legal awareness amongst the people. At this backdrop, legal literacy and legal awareness assume critical significance. The members of Legal Literacy Cell Dr. Surender Arya, Dr. Vinay Singhal, Prof. Rachna Sardana and Prof. Richa Langyan presided over on the occasion and said that critical knowledge of legal provisions and processes, coupled with the skills to use this knowledge to realize rights and entitlements definitely empower everyone to demand justice, accountability and effective remedies at all levels. As many as 80 students actively participated in this event. Prof. Richa Langyan successfully conducted the stage and Dr. Surender Arya proposed the vote of thanks to our worthy chief guest. Prof. Ramesh and P.R.O Sh. Mohinder Khanna also marked their presence and graced the occasion.
