About Us

The Department of History at our college was established in 1954 and has a rich legacy of academic excellence. The department takes special pride in having the eminent historian, the late Prof. S.C. Mittal, among its early faculty members. Sh. B.B. Bhardwaj, the State President of Itihas Sankalan Samiti Haryana, served as the Head of the Department from 01-08-1974 to 31-01-2009. Other notable faculty members like Sh. S.C. Kaushik and Sh. S.P. Jain have also contributed to the department’s growth. In the 1980s, renowned historian Prof. Irfan Habib was invited for an extension lecture and seminar.

Dr. Rakesh Mittal joined the college in 2013 and is currently serving as the Head of the Department. Today, the department is staffed by three highly qualified faculty members who continue to uphold its legacy of excellence.

• Collaborations: Regular archaeological and archive workshops and exhibitions in collaboration with the Archive Department, Panchkula, Govt. of Haryana.
