NSS Activities 2020-21

Activities:

NSS units of the college stand for and with people, no matter how challenging the times may be. Since NSS units of the college during Covid-19 couldn’t reach out to vulnerable people physically; we changed our way of approaching and sensitizing them. NSS started multiple campaigns to educate, normalize and help different people on social media platforms.

  1. The campaign to promote health and safety included multiple posts to keep the audience up-to-date with all required information on COVID-19. The myths around COVID-19 were also clarified through this campaign.
  2. NSS units actively participated in Haryana Government’s “Harit Haryana Abhiyan and Unnat Haryana Abhiyan” launched in July, 2020 to promote an oxygen rich environment by planting trees in every nook and corner of the village, district and part of the State.
  3. NSS volunteers planted trees in their surrounded areas and posted pics on government launched Geo tagging app on 10th August 2020.
  4. 15th August 2020 was celebrated with great zeal in the college. Flag hoisting ceremony was performed by management and worthy Principal of the college.
  5. A tree plantation program was organized in Indoor stadium of the college on 17th August 2020.
  6. About 130 NSS volunteers registered themselves on Apda Mitra Portal to provide volunteer services to district administration to fight pandemic. A disaster management program was also organized on 18th August 2020.
  7. Keeping in mind the need to stay fit and healthy, E-Poster competition on ‘Fit India Youth’ was organized and a Fit India Freedom Run was launched on 30 August 2020.
  8. NSS day was celebrated on 24th September 2020 with strong fervor and zeal so as to remember and keep working on achieving the motto ‘Not Me, But You’.
  9. On 12 October 2020, a pledge ceremony and awareness campaign was organized against COVID-19. All the faculty members, NSS volunteers and many students took oath to follow covid precautions.
  10. Vigilance Awareness Week was observed on 19 October 2020 in the college along with all faculty members.
  11. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Jayanti as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas was celebrated via online webinar organised on Google Meet and college social media platform on 31 October 2020.
  12. Message of strengthening ties of brotherhood in society was spread through the celebration of National Integration Day on 19th November 2020.
  13. An Extension Lecture on ‘Indian Constitution Day’ was organized on 26th November 2020. Dr. Surender Arya, Assistant Professor, Pol. Science delivered his expert views to students on Indian constitution provisions. Volunteers and students attended this program in person as well as through online platform.
  14. NSS Program officers and volunteers participated in a Webinar on Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat organized on 27th November 2020.
  15. World’s AIDS Day was observed by means of various posters and banners on 1st December 2020.
  16. New NSS Registrations and orientation drive was launched on 10th December 2020 to  motivate students to be a part of NSS and work as volunteer to make their society a better place to live in.
  17. A Poster Competition on Energy Conservation was organized on 24th December 2020.
  18. Covid Vaccination Awareness Drive was initiated in District and nearby villages on 30th December 2020. Volunteers went door to door for creating awareness about vaccine program.
  19. National Youth Day was celebrated on 12th January 2021.
  20. An extension lecture on Road Safety Awareness was organized on 17th January 2021 to observe road safety month started by Indian Government. Road Safety Manager Rajveer Shoekand, Ashok Leyland driving Institute, was the key speaker who told students about road safety measures and various road signs.
  21. On 20th January 2021, poster making competition and Slogan writing competition were organized on the theme of Road Safety. NSS volunteer Binni of B.A. III secured Ist position by preparing a chart on road safety signs and Kavita secured Ist position in slogan writing competition.
  22. A Covid Vaccination Awareness lecture was delivered by Dr Jitender Gill to the volunteers on 18th January 2021. Dr. Gill made the volunteers aware about the safety of the vaccine and motivated them to get vaccinated to help the country fight this pandemic.
  23. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti was observed on 23rd January 2021 in the college Seminar Hall. Extension lecture was delivered by Dr Rajbir Parashar and Dr Rakesh Mittal on the life of Netaji highlighting the struggle faced by him to form Azad Hind Fauz. NSS volunteers attended this lecture through Google Meet.
  24. Republic Day was celebrated with strong patriotic fervor on 26th January 2021.
  25. NSS units organized seven day and night camp in village Shergarh from 27th January 2021 to 2nd February 2021. The theme of the camp was “Healthy youth- Healthy India- A fight against corona”. In the camp, 78 volunteers participated under the guidance of NSS programme officers. Office bearers of the college Governing Body visited the camp to give their blessings and words of appreciation to volunteers. Extension lectures were delivered on various topics. Dr. Jitender Gill on Health and Nutrition , Dr. Geeta Goyal delivered a talk on Communication Skills in English through various activities, Prof. Rachana Sardana on Financial Literacy, COVID vaccination, Dr. A.L. Madan on Role of NSS in a Student’s life to make him a life time volunteer to society. Volunteers launched cleanliness drive in the village. Apart from this, debate competition and cultural activities were also organized during the camp. Volunteers visited old age home and spent some time with the inmates. On the concluding day, Principal Dr. S.K. Goyal distributed prizes to winners of various competitions and appreciated volunteers for their selfless service to the society.
  26. A Blood Donation Camp was organised in the college Main Hall on 9th February 2021 in which more than 150 unit was collected. NSS volunteers, students and faculty members donated blood to be a part of this noble cause.
  27. On 16th February 2021, a NSS quiz was conducted by Prof. Pooja Mittal.
  28. “Catch the rain, where it falls” webinar was organised on 16th March 2021 to make students sensitize about water Conservation and Rain Water harvesting.
  29. Poshan Abhiyaan Awareness Programme was organised on 19th march 2021 to educate students about nourishment and encourage them to create awareness among people in their neighbourhood.
  30. A Prize Distribution function was organised on 20th March 2021 in the college seminar hall where prize money of Rs. 50,000 under Swatch Bharat Programme sponsored by Government of India was distributed among 22 volunteers. These 22 volunteers have participated in SBSI program and won district level 1st and 2nd prize amounting 30,000/- and 20,000/- respectively. RKSD Governing Body Office bearers distributed the prizes and congratulated the volunteers for this great achievement.
  31. A COVID vaccination camp was organized by NSS units in collaboration with Civil hospital, Kaithal on 13th April 2021 in the college Main Hall. This camp was open for all people above 45 years age. About 100 people were vaccinated in this camp.
  32. NSS Units organized a Blood Donation Camp on 9 February 2021 and collected 137 units of blood.
