Women Cell Report (Session 2018–19)

The session 2018–19 was celebrated as the ‘Women Empowerment Year’ under the convenership of Dr. Manjula Goel.
On 25th August 2018, an awareness programme titled ‘Sankalp Sutra Bandhan’ for girls’ safety was organized. More than 300 students, along with faculty members, took a pledge and tied a holy knot around trees in the college campus, symbolizing their commitment to girls’ safety. Dr. Manjula Goel administered the pledge.
A ten-day Self-Defence Awareness Camp was conducted from 21st to 30th September 2018 to empower female students. Ms. Deepika (Asstt. Prof. of Physical Education) and Ms. Lekhika (M.A. Pol. Sci.) provided Judo-Karate training. Around 500 girls participated in the camp.
On 26th October 2018, a Mehandi Competition was held on the eve of Karwa Chauth, promoting the theme ‘Earning through Learning Skills’, giving students a platform to earn by showcasing their talent.
Students also actively participated in Poster Making, Slogan Writing, and Essay Writing Competitions on the theme ‘Women Issues and Women Empowerment’, promoting awareness and creativity.
On 25th January 2019, students Miss Juhi and Miss Chawita (M.A. English) participated in the National Women Conclave at M.M.D.U., Mullana (Ambala). They were accompanied by Ms. Pooja Gupta and Ms. Rakhi Singla.
A motivational extension lecture on ‘Awareness of Personal Hygiene & Sanitation’ was held on 27th February 2019. The keynote speaker was Ms. Meenakshi Gupta (HGF, JCI, Kaithal). The session was inaugurated by Sh. Saket Mangal (President, Governing Body), Dr. Sanjay Goyal (Principal), and Dr. Manjula Goel (Convener).
On the same day, the Cell honoured Padma Shri awardee Ms. Mamta Sauda, a celebrated mountaineer from Kaithal and alumna of the college, for her extraordinary achievement of scaling Mount Everest in 2010. Her presence served as a great inspiration to the students.
On 1st March 2019, a documentary film titled ‘A Tribute to Nirbhaya’, edited by Rashtrapati Awardee Ms. Ruchi Sharma, was screened. The event was inaugurated by Sh. Kulwant Bazigar (MLA, Cheeka), Sh. Dharam Pal Sharma (Vice State Chairman, BJP), and Sh. Shyam Bansal (Treasurer, Governing Body). The film served as a powerful tool for spreading awareness against sexual harassment and gender-based violence.
On 8th March 2019, International Women’s Day was celebrated with a Road Marathon led by Dr. Priyanka Soni (Deputy Commissioner, Kaithal). Over 500 students participated to spread awareness about menstrual hygiene and sanitation.
On the same occasion, Dr. Raj Rani Garg, a renowned gynaecologist from Kaithal, delivered an extension lecture on ‘Health Issues of Girls’, which was highly informative and impactful.
On 2nd April 2019, a Mehandi Competition themed around the Lok Sabha General Elections was organized to raise electoral awareness. Dr. Sanjay Goyal, Principal, inaugurated the event. The event was covered by Punjab Kesari through Daily Hunt.
On 3rd April 2019, ten selected students represented the college in a District Level Mehandi Competition at I.G.M.M.V., Kaithal, where seven students from our institution were awarded by the Deputy Commissioner, Kaithal. Notably, Ms. Sarita (M.A. Economics – Evening Session) secured the second position.
