National Service Scheme (NSS)

Launched in: 1969 (Gandhiji’s Centenary Year)

Objective
To extend the dimension of higher education by involving student youth in community service, aiming at:
Personality development through social service
Inculcation of social welfare spirit
Development of behavioral and interactive skills
Making students socially responsible and patriotic citizens
NSS at R.K.S.D. (P.G.) College
Introduced in: 1984
Function: Regular part of the academic program
Units: 3 NSS units
Students per Unit: 100 (Total: 300 students)
Special Benefit: 5% weightage in admission to institutions of higher education for NSS merit certificate holders
