About

The Department of Zoology was started in 1967, almost 13 years after the college was established. The Government of Haryana sanctioned pre-medical course to start with. Sh. S.L. Aggarwal was appointed in 1967 to head become the founder faculty and head of the department. Sh. V.Mohan joined the college as lecturer in Zoology in 1970. Soon, the Department earned a distinct prestige in the region. A number of outstanding alumni later graduated as MBBS doctors from reputed Medical Colleges. In 1983, the College got necessary clearance and permission to start Undergraduate course of B.Sc. Medical with a sanctioned strength of 80 students. For long time, the Dept. continued imparting education through pre-Medical, subsequently XI and XII classes of CBSE and B.Sc. Medical. In 1990s, CBSE classes were discontinued. After the retirement of Sh. S.L. Aggarwal in 1997, Dr.  Gagan Mittal was appointed in the department as lecturer. Sh. V. Mohan retired in 2007 and Dr. Anil Jindal was appointed as Assistant Professor in 2013.  The Dept. has made special contribution to the inception of Haryana’s first Community Reserve named Golden Jubillee Brahm Sarovar Community Reserve in Village Thana, district Kurukshetra, under the Department of Forest and Wildlife, Govt. of Haryana. This ongoing project  is  spread in 170 acres with a budget of Rs. 7.5 crores.

Subject Society

The Zoological Society exists in the department since 1967. The rationale behind the constitution of Zoological society was to install in the students a love for the nature with its myriad organisms and to mould them into environment sensitive citizens of tomorrow. Various activities for understanding and conserving nature through awareness programmes, seminars, competitions, quizzes field studies are organized.
