Classroom Seminar for B.Sc. I Medical students.

Ms. Ritu Bhura, Assistant Professor in Zoology organized a classroom Seminar for B.Sc. I Medical students. The students presented talks on the various topics of Cytogenetics and Human Health. The main objective of this activity was to boost confidence of students, develop their communication and presentation skills, and to make students aware about few important topics of Cytogenetics and Human Health not covered in their prescribed syllabus. The students gave presentations on topics such as “Pedigree Analysis in Livestock”, “RT-PCR techniques used in Covid-19 testing”, “Genetic Counselling”, “How Modern Lifestyle Effects Public Health”, “Sleep vs Coma” and “Are you Healthy as you think”. Total 58 students participated in the event. The session was followed by a Q&A session. Dr. Gagan Mittal, Head, Department of Zoology, congratulated the students for their effort and said that the Zoology department has from time to time adopted various strategies to promote student- centric learning. Dr. Sanjay K Goyal, Principal of the college, also congratulated the participants of the event and highlighted that the Learner-centric methods like these have been shown to be superior to the traditional teacher-centric approach to instruction, the outcome of which is acquisition of critical thinking or creative problem-solving skills.
