Activities 2018-19

The session 2018-19 was celebrated as the ‘Women Empowerment Year’ under the convener-ship of Dr. Manjula Goel.

  • On 25th Aug 2018, an awareness programme entitled ‘Sankalp Sutra Bandhan’ for girls’ safety was organised in which more than 300 students along with faculty members took a pledge and tied a holy knot around a tree in the college campus. Dr. Manjula Goel administered the pledge of Girls’ Safety to the gathering.
  • As a step towards Women Empowerment, a ten-day Self-Defence Awareness Camp was conducted by the Cell from 21st to 30thSep, 2018. Ms. Deepika, Asstt. Prof. of Physical Education and Miss Lekhika, M.A. (Pol.Sc.) imparted training of Judo-Karate. Around 500 girls participated in the camp.
  • In order to develop artistic fervour among students, the Cell organised various competitions and celebrated important festivals. On 26th Oct, 2018, a Mehandi Competition was organised on the eve of Karwa Chauth in which students got the opportunity to earn money by showcasing their skill. Students also participated in Poster Making, Slogan Writing and Essay Writing Competition organised on the theme ‘Women Issues and Women Empowerment’ by the cell.
  • Miss Juhi and Miss Chawita, students of M.A. (English) participated in National Women Conclave organised by Women Cell, M.M.D.U. Mullana (Ambala) on 25th Jan, 2019. They were accompanied by Ms. Pooja Gupta and Ms. Rakhi Singla.
  • On 27th Feb, 2019, the cell organised a motivational Extension lecture on ‘Awareness of Personal Hygiene & Sanitation’. Sh. Saket Mangal, President of Governing Body, Dr. Sanjay Goyal, Principal, R.K.S.D. (P.G.) College and Dr. Manjula Goel, Convener, Women Cell welcomed Ms. Meenakshi Gupta, HGF, JCI, Kaithal, the key note speaker.
  • On 27th Feb, 2019, the cell honoured Padma Shri awardee Ms. Mamta Sauda of Kaithal district, a renowned sports person and an alumunus of the college for scaling the Mount Everest in 2010. The Prinicipal congratulated the cell for inviting Ms. Mamta and remarked that her presence would boost the confidence of the girls.
  • A documentary film entitled ‘A Tribute to Nirbhaya’, edited by Rashtrapati Awardee Ms. Ruchi Sharma was screened on 1st March, 2019. The onscreening of the film was inaugurated by Sh. Kulwant Bazigar, M.L.A. Cheeka, Sh. Dharam Pal Sharma, Vice State Chairman of B.J.P, Sh. Shyam Bansal, Treasurer Governing Body of the college. The film was a rich source of information to aware the masses against increasing incidents of rape and eve- teasing.
  • On 8th March, 2019, International Women’s Day was celebrated with a Road Marathon under the leadership of Dr. Priyanka Soni, Deputy Commissioner, Kaithal in which 500 students participated enthusiastically to propagate the message of sanitation and hygiene for girls’ health during menstruation.
  • On International Women’s Day, Dr. Raj Rani Garg, a renowned gynaecologist of Kaithal District delivered an extension lecture on ‘Health Issues of Girls’.
  • Mehandi Competition on Lok Sabha Aam Chunav was organised on 2nd, April 2019. Prinicipal Dr. Sanjay Goyal inaugurated the function. This programme was also covered by National news channel Punjab Kesari via Daily hunt. Selected ten students participated in District level Mehandi Competition held at I.G.M.M.V, Kaithal on 3rd, April 2019. Seven students of our institution were awarded by the Deputy Commissioner Kaithal. Ms. Sarita, M.A. Economics (Evening Session) got second position.
